Volkswagen Tiguan vs. The Competition

Comparing the Volkswagen Tiguan to the Subaru Outback in Auburn, MA

If you are in the market for a compact crossover, you probably already know there are ample models to choose from, which can make it difficult to find your perfect fit. But, here at Patrick Volkswagen, we are here to assist you in making an informed decision that is best for you and your budget.

One of our most popular compact crossover models is the Volkswagen Tiguan. This elegant crossover provides you with timeless design, modern technology, and impressive capabilities that make any adventure effortless from the moment you get behind the wheel to the second you arrive. But how does it stack up against other crossovers on the market?

The Volkswagen Tiguan can be compared to the Subaru Outback, a similar but very different crossover on the market. But let's take a look at what makes the VW Tiguan so desirable and a better investment for Worcester drivers.

Take A Look At Similarities & Differences

Versatility, Size and Interior Features

The Volkswagen Tiguan is a more luxurious compact crossover when you take a look at the interior compared to the Subaru Outback. It is more comfortable and spacious, giving you and your passengers more room to stretch out. The Tiguan has 124 cubic feet of passenger volume, making it 15 cubic feet larger than the Subaru Outback. You'll have more room for your tallest friends and all their luggage.

The Subaru Outback also has less seating options than the Tiguan, which has a removable third row and comes with reclining rear seats that are not offered in the Outback.

Performance & Specs

The Volkswagen Tiguan is expertly crafted by German engineers and offers you a smoother and more robust drive. Under the Tiguan hood, you'll find a 2.0-liter Turbo Inline-4 engine that produces 184 horsepower at 4400 rpm and 221 pound-feet of torque at 1600 rpm.

This engine is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission.

While the Subaru Outback crossover's engine isn't far behind in the realm of horsepower, you'll notice right away the difference in handling and pick up. The Outback comes with a 2.5-liter engine that only gets 182 horsepower at 5800 rpm and 176 pound-feet of torque at 440 rpm. This engine is paired to a Continuously Variable Automatic transmission.

Both models are All-Wheel Drive, making them more reliable in Westborough's winter driving conditions.

Technology and Safety

The Volkswagen Tiguan offers you a more personalized driving experience with state-of-the-art technology that we feel is better incorporated into the vehicle's overall design. Your new Tiguan can keep up to four driver profiles stored so you can alter between drivers with ease. This is a feature not offered on the Subaru Outback.

There is also an available full-screen navigation system that makes it easier to find your way through Shrewsbury, MA.

Additional features include safety technologies like Adaptive Cruise Control that has the ability to slow you down and keep a set distance between you and the car you are following.

While the Subaru Outback does have several safety technologies and we approve of Subaru's commitment to safety you'll get more connective technology in the VW Tiguan.

Both Crossovers do offer Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto® compatibility for effortless phone integration while cruising down the road.
