Electric cars don't need oil changes, but they still need maintenance. If you purchase a new EV from Patrick Volkswagen, you'll still end up getting to know the staff at our Volkswagen service center because there are a few service tasks that need to be carried out regularly.
Here's what new EV drivers can expect.
Services Needed by an Electric Car
- Tire Rotations: Your tires still need to be rotated if you're driving an electric vehicle. This service helps your tires wear down more evenly, and that extends their lifespan and helps you put off the expensive purchase of new tires for as long as possible.
- Coolant Check: The battery in your electric car uses coolant, so its levels will have to be checked from time to time. Inadequate coolant levels could affect how efficiently your vehicle runs.
- Brake Inspection: Naturally, your electric vehicle still has brakes. Your car's braking system is made up of a variety of parts that work together to bring your vehicle to a stop. Our mechanics can inspect all of these components for issues, and if any are worn out, we can replace them.
- Suspension Check: Our mechanics can also check your suspensions for signs of wear and damage.
- Windshield Wiper Blade Replacement: Over time, those wiper blades start leaving behind streaks that make it harder to see through your windshield. Fresh wipers will solve that problem.
- Cabin Air Filter Replacement: This filter keeps out dust, allergens, and other dirt from the road, but eventually it will need to be replaced.
There are many other services you'll need over the lifespan of your electric vehicle, but this list should give you a good idea about some of what you'll be in for.
